Hi, I’m Ray!

I am just a typical Filipino-American entrepreneur who grew up in Turkey and lives in Mexico with his family. Like most people my there was a life I was suppose to live that did not quite work out as planned. After college, I was suppose to get a good job as a computer engineer, put money into my retirement plan and retire at 66 so I could “start living my life”. The fates had other things in mind.

In 2006, a comercial on TV changed my life. In the commercial, there was a quote:

“If they were to write a book about your life, would anybody want to read it?“

I remember watching that commercial in my condo in the Land of Cleve and thinking to myself, “No, on the path I am now on, I would not even read my own book”.

Don’t get me wrong. I did not want to be famous. I just wanted a life well lived.

This phrase set me on a new path. Within 90 days I had quit my job, sold everything I owned and moved to Mexico to volunteer near the Guatemala border in a research center that helped indiginous commuities.

While there, I meet my now wife – she was my Spanish teacher – and in another example of lack of impulse control on my part, we decided to get married and launch a business together at the same time.

No, I am not recommending that, even though it worked out for us.

That was 2008. Since then I have launched over 20 profitable companies. I have sold 4. Many of the companies I have built with my wife.

I still, to this day, feel like I don’t know what I am doing. I am told that that is part of the game. The more you know, the more you know you don’t know.

Why?
